Gresham, OR to Bakersfield, CA

I got into Gresham about a quarter to 4PM on Saturday. Sharon, Nathan, Laura and Katie were just about packed up to go to the Hedden's home for a birthday/Father's Day gathering. Laura is turning 18 this month, Nathan 41. The food was great and served in great quantity. After the food came the gift openings and then the party moved outdoors for softball, football and lounging in the shade.

Sunday, Sharon, Nathan, Katie and I went to Skamania Lodge for brunch. The food was good and the view was very nice. It was tempting to tee off on the golf course but we didn't have all day for me to 5-putt my way through even 9 holes. I'll be working on that in Florida soon, I promise.

After the Lodge we visited Multnomah Falls and the Vista House. The Vista House overlooks the Columbia River Gorge and was built in 1916. By my calculations that makes it a little older than Nathan.

Katie is still pretty unsure of strangers so Uncle Paul kept his distance for the most part. Sharon had to work at 3PM on Sunday so I packed up and hit the road about that time. 1,250 miles down...more to come.
